Physiotherapy Services
Physiotherapy Services
I provide services for a variety of conditions, including, but not limited to:
-orthopedic conditions (joint subluxations, dislocation, fractures, arthritis, etc.)
-soft tissue injuries (strains, sprains, ligament tears, tendinopathy, etc.)
-sports injuries and overuse/repetitive strain injuries
-pediatric and geriatric conditions
-motor vehicle/whiplash injuries
-neurological conditions (stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons, etc.)
My primary interests and areas of focus are: muscle imbalance, core strengthening, functional anatomy and motor patterning.
Unfortunately, I do not treat workplace injuries that are under WSIB claims.
As a private practitioner, I do not provide services that are covered or funded by OHIP: I am able to bill most insurance companies directly and can submit for motor vehicle claims as well. For more information on physiotherapy funding, visit my blog post which provides more information on this topic.
CORE CLASS: I design, implement, and teach a core strengthening class locally that anyone can attend with focus on spinal stabilization, whole body strengthening, and flexibility. It is a great way to prevent injury and promote spinal health and function!
Below highlights the key treatment techniques and approaches I am certified to provide, and use most often with patients:
Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment approach that involves joint mobilization, manipulation and/or soft tissue release techniques. It helps to restore joint health and mobility through various degrees of applied pressure and joint motion.
Exercise Programming
Exercise Programming
Exercise programming is a key component of physiotherapy. Each patient will be provided with an individualized exercise program that will help them to achieve maximum physical health and mobility.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is an approach that uses gentle, sustained pressure on the fascial system to allow the body to release adhesions in the connective tissue without stimulating a guarding response. This is a great technique for people who do not tolerate aggressive treatment approaches.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture
Based on ancient Chinese philosophy, acupuncture aims to stimulate points in the body (through needling) in order to restore energy balance and flow which ultimately helps the healing process.
Core Strengthening
Core Strengthening
Core strengthening, or spinal stabilization, targets the deep stabilizing muscles of the body through a unique set of specific exercises. The goal of this training is not only to strengthen the core muscles, but to re-establish muscle balance and patterning with movement.
Modalities
Modalities
Modalities such as Laser, ultrasound, TENS, and NMES are used when appropriate to help progress and promote the healing process and muscle function.
